Cheyenne Rotaract Club has successful year
Community Rotaract – This year has been incredibly busy for the Cheyenne Community Rotaract Club! We closed out last year on a high note with the 2014 District Conference Glow Golf Tournament in Cheyenne to benefit End Polio Now. Everyone enjoyed it so much our club has chosen to make a glow golf tournament our club fundraiser - look for registration info for our August 14th tournament soon! In October, we held our annual Panhandling for Polio fundraiser, and between the two events we donated $4200 to End Polio Now. This year, our club was able to finally purchase our website domain again, and we have been working to get all of our content and information added to our shiny new website.
Our club's local project is to organize and deliver books every month for the Raising Readers in Wyoming program, that provides age-appropriate books to physicians to give at all well-child checks. Laramie County has the highest demand in the State, and the Community Rotaractors deliver 1500-2000 books every month! In September, we held our annual ShelterBox campout in the Depot Plaza and were able to donate $1000 to ShelterBox USA. In February, we invited a Rolinda Sample from the Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne to present to the club about its new building and we presented a $2000 donation to the Boys and Girls Club to bring to a close one of our local projects. The Community Rotaractors also attended District Assemblies, volunteered at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum and the COMEA Shelter, won the Cranium Cup Spirit Award for the third time and attended social events with the Sunrise and After Hours clubs! The Community Rotaract has had an amazingly successful year, and we are so thankful to all of the Rotarians in Cheyenne for their generosity!
