Eva La spoke with the Cheyenne Sunrise Rotary group on March 3, 2015. Eva talked about her remarkable experience with the Rotary Youth Exchange and how it changed her life.

Eva’s family moved to Craig, Colorado, from abroad and became the only Asian family in Craig at the time. Eva learned English within three months of moving to Craig. Her family opened a Chinese restaurant in Craig and it helped Eva become more familiarized with the American culture. Eva and her sister adapted to American life so well that her family started referring to them as “Little Americans”.

When Eva La was in high school she got the opportunity to travel to Tapei, Taiwan, through the Rotary Youth Exchange. Eva said the Rotary Youth Exchange helped her learn more about her Asian heritage. She said the Rotary Youth Exchange not only helped her personally & culturally, but professionally as well – including giving her the chance to work with Apple and to help Apple open a new store location in China. She thanked Rotary for presenting her with her many opportunities through the Rotary Youth Exchange.
