The Cheyenne Sunrise Rotary club's first Honorary Member, Paula Egan-Wright, recently traveled to Haiti again and provides us with this update on the orphanage she is helping;
"1) I did a camp in Haiti from Aug 3 to 10. I was actually only at the school three days because I had a hard time getting tickets. However, I was able to bring 210 lbs of luggage, and I was successful in collecting donations of clothes, school supplies, lots of candy, and some shoes.
2) The kids were delighted to do music, art, language, and drama activities. They had actually been doing similar activities a few days prior.
3) Food is still an issue at Kay Lesli, where the kids get a modest breakfast and one meal in the late afternoon.
4) The biggest challenge faced is the need to relocate. The rent on the current country house was up in August, and when I was there, Pastor Aubourg didnt have a solution. Last Thursday, he let me know he'd found something, and i am in the process of getting the annual interest on my late mother's investments sent to him to pay this new rent. I look forward to seeing photos.
5) i continue to struggle to get the kids fed. I did the 17th street art fair, the profits of which have paid for the last two installments of food for the kids.
6) another need we have right now are school manuals. I hesitated to send money for these before because the pastor had not found a building , and I feared he'd spend the money on things other than schoolbooks.
7) Pastor Aubourg has been ill. Positive thoughts are needed for his recovery." -Paula Egan-Wright
